UConn students Ben Theiken, Andrew Jeffery, and Alex Kinstler set off for Germany at the beginning of the semester for their year abroad as part of the EUROTECH program.

The EUROTECH program is a five-year program in which students attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. The students spend a semester studying at one of nine universities in UConn’s partner German state of Baden-Württemberg, as well as completing an internship in their final 6 months.

In order to prepare the students, the program includes German language courses designed to specifically utilize engineering terms and engineering courses taught partially in German. With this experience, students are prepared to work in global markets and adapt to various cultural environments.

Upon their return in, the three students will continue their studies at UConn and complete their German language credits. The department looks forward to hearing about their experiences abroad.
